Background
The Government of the Republic of North Macedonia is undertaking efforts to modernize its agriculture sector in order to realize the economic and social benefits for future development and prosperity. The Government has requested the World Bank support for an Agriculture Modernization Project (AMP), which was approved by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors on January 30, 2020 and became effective on June 18, 2021.
Sub-component 1.1 - Access to Training and Advisory Services
The sub-component of the Project aims at providing high-quality training and advisory services for agricultural producers and agribusinesses. This Call refers to the envisioned financial support to producers and agribusinesses throughout North Macedonia in the form of matching grants for on-demand advisory services by qualified experts that will be financially supported of at least 50% from the Agriculture Modernization Project’s grant scheme. The project-supported advisory services are expected to enhance access to quality advice on areas stated below in the “Profiles and Expertise required” Section of this Call.
Call for Expert
A pool of regional experts will be set up to support on-demand producers and agribusinesses in North Macedonia.
We are seeking expressions of interest from experts who can provide high-quality assistance and advisory services to agricultural households and businesses. The goal is to support and improve the productivity, profitability, and sustainability of agricultural activities with the experts’ support from the region for beneficiaries in North Macedonia.
Profiles & expertise required
We are looking for experts with experience in the following areas:
- Farm management and business planning;
- Agronomy and crop production;
- Soil and water conservation;
- Agribusiness development and marketing;
- Organic production;
- Processing technology;
- Legal Advisors;
- Market research;
- Climate change adaptation and mitigation;
- Any other related areas on support to the production and processing of fruits and vegetables proposed by the experts.
We are seeking experts who have:
- Relevant educational background in one of the areas stated above;
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the areas stated above;
- Working knowledge of Balkan Group languages;
- Working knowledge of English language.
How to express interest
If you have a strong track record of providing technical assistance and advisory services to agricultural households and businesses in the Western Balkan region, we encourage you to submit an expression of interest. The selected experts will be included in the data base which will be used for providing services to a variety of clients in the agricultural sector, including smallholder farmers, medium-sized agribusinesses, and large commercial operations during implementation of the grant scheme under the Agriculture Modernization Project.

- A brief statement of interest outlining how you can contribute to our efforts to support agricultural households and businesses with included References from at least three previous clients or employers;
